Michael Johnson's Testimony
In 1971 I was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church along with my mother and sister. In 1977 I graduated from High School and decided to take on a career in the U S Army. Like many other young people I backslid in my relationship with God and I left the church. Once I returned home from the military in 1980 I was hired by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. For 5 years I lived a life of emptiness even though I was prosperous in many ways. I was very unhappy and I knew that there was something missing. I decided to call my mother who I knew always lifted my name to Jesus in prayer. She began to remind me that I was a premature birth born in 7 months with two major illnesses. I was diagnosed by the doctors and they told my parents that I wasn’t going to live.
My mother began to remind me that I was in the hospital for 3 months and that everyone including my father had given up hope that I would make it. She went on to share that she never doubted that I would make it because she vowed to God that if He would sustain my life she would do all in her might to dedicate and give me to the Lord for His service.
She went on to share with me that the Lord was calling me to live for Him to do a special work and that’s why I had no peace and would not until I surrendered to Him fully. She shared with me that I needed to start hearing from God through Bible study. In the meanwhile she sent me several cassette tapes by her favorite evangelist, Pastor Charles D. Brooks.

Being a letter carrier gave me the opportunity to listen to those tapes while delivering my route. Each tape that I listened to open my eyes to the truth. I realized what I had never known before I was baptized years ago. In the past, the Bible, to me were just stories which didn’t seem to have a connection with what was happening in the world. How wrong I was! Listening to the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation with many other principles from those tapes caused my eyes to be open to the great prophetic truths of God’s Word. I hungered for and listened to more and more of those tapes until I gained a great knowledge of the Third Angels Message and the responsibility of God’s true church and its mission! I praise God for the ministry of Dr. Charles D. Brooks who is truly my favorite gospel preacher. I cannot express with words the gratefulness, and thanks that I have for him and the Breath of Life team. To God be the Glory!
In just a few weeks after my new birth experience from listening to those tapes, I knew I had to take a stand for the Sabbath. This was a tough situation because every letter carrier had to work on Saturdays. I decided to take my stand for the Sabbath come what may, because of the prophetic revelation that I received from those tapes, I knew that it was no time to play with my salvation, it was time to trust in God! I then decided to contact James G. Lee Jr. the Senior Pastor of the Normandie Ave SDA Church in Los Angeles. I shared with him the situation that I had on my job about the Sabbath. He shared with me that he would not only write a letter in my behalf about the Sabbath, but he would come to speak to my supervisor personally. To make this long story short, my supervisor took a hard stance on not allowing me Sabbaths off but I decided anyway not to work on the Sabbath anymore.

I have to tell you because of my stand, the Lord opened the door for me to get a better position in the Postal Service with Sabbaths off, a position that required more years in service to obtain. Praise God for his wonderful works. In December of 1987 I was re-baptized, but this time it was for real because I knew what I was doing and I had a born of the Spirit experience and an experience with God before I went down into the water! With great appreciation I thank God for His mercy over the years, my wife for her constant love and support, my mother for her love and prayers, Pastor Charles D. Brooks for his faithfulness in preaching God’s unadulterated truth and Pastor James G. Lee for his support and allowing God to use him in giving me the opportunities to do the work of evangelism in his church which has given birth to the ministry of End Times Like These!
